March 14 Nehemiah 6-7; 2 Corinthians 2; Proverbs 10
In the raw, unvarnished truth of the Gospel, there’s no room for slickness or concealment. Jesus, in His call to us, demands nothing less than complete surrender—denying ourselves, taking up our crosses, and walking in obedience, even unto death. This call isn’t nestled in the small print but heralded boldly, with the love of God displayed for all on a rugged cross.
This Gospel—this incredibly good news—is as transparent and direct now as it was then. In echoing the Father’s words and mirroring His actions, Jesus modeled a life of absolute authenticity and surrender, a life we’re invited to emulate.
2 Corinthians 2: 17 “We are not, as so many, peddling the word of God for profit. On the contrary, in Christ we speak before God with sincerity, as those sent from God.”
Our Gospel isn’t up for sale. It doesn’t shy away from the tough parts, nor does it cater to an elite few. It’s an open call to all—”whosoevers” who feel the weight of life and yearn for rest.
Matthew 11: 28 “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
Everyone is welcome; everyone is called.
This isn’t about coaxing people into salvation as though it were some sort of transaction. No, this is about drawing near to Jesus, finding our lives intertwined with His in intimate union—the true heart of the Gospel.
Let’s be the fragrance of Christ to those around us today, breathing life into every interaction.
Proverbs 10: 11 “The words of the righteous are a fountain of life, but the words of the wicked conceal violence.” 20 “The tongue of the righteous is choice silver; the heart of the wicked is of little worth.” 21 “The lips of the righteous feed many, but fools die for lack of sense.”
We’re not here to peddle God’s truth as if it were mere merchandise. As we navigate today, let’s enrich those around us with the richness of God’s love, embodying the heart of true lovers of God. May our very lives become a living testament to His name, showcasing the beauty and depth of a life surrendered to Him.
