Genesis 32
11 Please deliver me from the hand of my brother, from the hand of Esau, for I fear him, that he may come and attack me, the mothers with the children. 12 But you said, “I will surely do you good, and make your offspring as the sand of the sea, which cannot be numbered for multitude.”
Isn’t it astounding how the very word of the Lord for our lives is what faces the fiercest tests?
Has God spoken a word over your life? Then brace yourself, for that very word will be challenged with relentless intensity. All opposition rises against the divine plan. Darkness threatens to engulf the promises the Lord has bestowed. In such moments, we may find ourselves bewildered and disheartened, questioning if we misunderstood or if God has changed His mind.
But let me assure you, the Word of the Lord never returns void! (Isaiah 55:11) When Jacob found himself in the grip of despair, fearing for his life, he sought solace in the remembrance of God’s word. His circumstances stood in direct contradiction to the glorious future the Lord had promised. Yet, Jacob had a choice—to believe in the face of adversity.
He wrestled through the night, grappling to lay hold of God’s blessing over his life. Clinging to the word of the Lord, Jacob summoned his strength and refused to release his grip on God. In the midst of his struggles, Jacob declared with unwavering determination that he would not let go until he received the promised blessing. And you know what? He obtained the blessing!
When our circumstances contradict the truth and challenge the word of the Lord spoken over our lives, we stand at a critical juncture. Whom and what will we choose to believe? Will we surrender to the weight of our circumstances? Will we bow to the sway of our emotions? Will we crumble under the weight of fear? Or…Or will we choose, even when faced with the impossible, to trust in the Lord?
It is in the act of choosing that revival and fulfillment are birthed! Choose to believe in the Lord’s faithfulness. Choose to remain steadfast in His word for your life. Let us follow the example of Jacob, who, when cornered and pressed, stirred up his faith by boldly declaring, “But you said, ‘I will surely do you good…'”
Though we may wrestle and encounter situations deemed impossible by others, we are a people who hold fast to the word of the Lord. We walk in unwavering faith, placing our trust in the God who has called us by name. Rest assured, we shall witness His goodness manifesting in our lives, right here in the land of the living.
