Recently, while engaging with our reading plan, I was deeply moved by the profound events of Pentecost, as described in Acts 2:
“When the day of Pentecost arrived, they were all together in one place. And suddenly there came from heaven a sound like a mighty rushing wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting. And divided tongues as of fire appeared to them and rested on each one of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance.” (Acts 2:1-4)
This moment marks a pivotal shift—from God beside us, to God within us. What makes our faith unique is this: Our God chooses to dwell within us, transforming us into the temple of His presence.
Yet, it’s tempting to revert to a theology of separation during our worship, as if we’re still trying to bridge a gap to a distant God. However, the truth of Pentecost reminds us that the breach has already been filled. The way has been made.
Peter, standing with the eleven, powerfully articulates this at Pentecost: “This Jesus God raised up, and of that we all are witnesses… being therefore exalted at the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, he has poured out this that you yourselves are seeing and hearing…” (Acts 2:32-33)
This is the essence of our witness—not merely recounting a history lesson, but sharing our firsthand experiences of this ultimate reality.
The response from the crowd that day was profound: “Now when they heard this they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, ‘Brothers, what shall we do?’” Peter’s reply was straightforward: “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” (Acts 2:37-38)
True repentance emerges from this vision, from seeing the living Christ. As we preach and embody this living message—focusing on the reality of Jesus—it leads others to transformation.
So, how will our communities be transformed? How will our nation find renewal? The answer is simple: We must behold. We must become witnesses of Jesus, not merely historians. The Spirit has been poured out; the glory of God covers the earth.
As we continue to connect through this blog, let us pray for our eyes to be opened further—to truly see and experience Jesus in His glory, as He is, at the right hand of the Father. Let this vision shape us, our communities, and our nation.
