(Exodus 19-21, Matthew 20:1-16)
The people stood far off, while Moses drew near to the thick darkness where God was. (Exodus 20:21 ESV)
Lightning, fire, smoke and thunder from heaven were enough to cause even the bravest warrior to draw back. But not Moses. When everyone else fell back, Moses drew near. He wasn’t deterred by darkness, or by the fear of the unknown. He went in blind, and came out seeing!
I believe the last day church will press in, pushing past the darkness into the place where God is… I believe! The end-time church will see God, and will be radiant with His glory. I believe it! But I also believe that there are times that are quite singular. There are times of pressing in that are quite lonely. The crowd doesn’t want to go up. The crowd doesn’t want to press in. We will need to go it alone.
The people stood far off, while Moses drew near to the thick darkness where God was. It’s heartbreaking and exhilarating all at the same time. We must all make a choice. Will we draw back, or will we press in?
God can be found. He is still calling. He is still meeting. He is still drawing hearts. Have you been standing far off, or have you gone into the unknown to seek the One who loves you most? He will be found, but only when you seek Him with all your heart. It’s time to leave the crowd. Don’t worry… you’re not missing anything. But think of what you’re finding.
