(2 Kings 18-19, John 6:1-44)

Then they said to him, “What must we do, to be doing the works of God?” Jesus answered them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in him whom he has sent.”  (John 6:28-29)

“What are you going to do for God?” Even our ministry schools are designed around our human efforts and achievements. What are we going to for God? What are we going to do to grow our ministries?

Jesus taught another way. He called those who were weary to Himself. He declared that His yoke is easy and His burden is light. He lived joyously in the fulfillment of all of the Law! He healed on the Sabbaath without breaking the law of rest, because He was and is always at rest. All of His works were and are done from a finished place. Nothing he did or does was from a place of striving. Nothing was or is performed from the place of angst.

The greatest gift we can give God, is to believe Him! This is the highest, most noble gift we can give. Yes, we go to church, and we sing in the choir, and we do outreaches and missions, but have we believed God? Have we put our trust fully in Jesus? Have we believed Him? This is true ministry: Believe in Jesus.
