(Genesis 3-5, Matthew 2)
But the LORD God called to the man and said to him, “Where are you?” And he said, “I heard the sound of you in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked, and I hid myself.”
Our religion is not based on our own efforts. We cannot save ourselves. Rather, the story of our faith begins with this: The God who seeks. It is utterly shocking…God came looking for us!
Oh, that our ears would be open to the sound of God calling out to us! How many of us are stuck in the game of hide and seek? There are so many in the church, who claim Christ, and yet also declare that He has abandoned them. I’ve heard many people, who in the name of transparency malign the character of God.
Beloved, our God is the seeking God. The God who looks. The God who calls out. This is who He is. He’s the God who never changes. The Beginning and the End.
It’s time to stop running. It’s time to stop hiding. It’s time to grow up and own up. Let’s throw off fear today and answer the call of God. Let’s draw close to the One who loves us most. The Bible says, “Today is the day of salvation.” Let’s experience the truth and wonder of that all over again. Today is the day!
