(Joshua 9-10, Luke 3)

24…Joshua summoned all the men of Israel and said to the chiefs of the men of war who had gone with him, “Come near; put your feet on the necks of these kings.” Then they came near and put their feet on their necks. 25And Joshua said to them, “Do not be afraid or dismayed; be strong and courageous. For thus the Lord will do to all your enemies against whom you fight.” (Joshua 10:24,25 ESV)

Sometimes we need to see victory! We need to feel it. God was in the process of delivering His Word from promise to fulfillment. There was a real labor involved. There was real energy expended. Fulfillment takes energy and focus.

The promises of God come to us. We do nothing to receive them. They are His gift to us, His calling upon us. Fulfillment, however involves a partnership. We must rise up into it. We must step out. We must overcome. We must put our “feet on their necks.”

What is the calling of God? What is it really all about? It can only be one thing: His desire to partner with us. Can you think of anything more amazing than that?! I cannot. The God of the universe is calling His creation into relationship… into partnership… into co-reigning with Him. Don’t be afraid! Put your foot on the neck of your enemies. Don’t be dismayed. Put your foot on the neck of the devil. God is with you!
