(Numbers 30-31, Mark 9:30-50)
For truly, I say to you, whoever gives you a cup of water to drink because you belong to Christ will by no means lose his reward. (Mark 9:41 ESV)
It’s not the big stuff… the stuff of crossing oceans and climbing mountains for God, for the sake of the Gospel. Well, it’s not just the big stuff. It’s the small stuff too. Jesus validates the smallest of gestures.
The issue is not the size of gesture. No! The issue is in the why. Whether we are preaching to thousands or working in the nursery, the issue is not the size of the service or even the particular job we are doing… this issue is all about why we are doing what we are doing. It’s all for Jesus. We serve (in whatever capacity) because we belong to Christ. This makes even the tiniest gesture quite grand. There is nothing small in the Kingdom. There is nothing insignificant in the Kingdom. It’s all unto God, which makes it all very important.
Open your eyes today for an opportunity to serve or encourage. It doesn’t have to be a big thing to be a big thing! Love God. Love people. This builds the Kingdom.
