(Numbers 7, Mark 4:21-41)

And he awoke and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, “Peace! Be still!” And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. He said to them, “Why are you so afraid? Have you still no faith?” (Mark 4:39 ESV)

Jesus comes into our crisis, He comes into our distress, and He speaks to our chaos. He speaks to the all of the things that cannot be fixed by our reason, by our efforts or our will. He speaks peace. He speaks stillness. And the result is immediate calm.

Often the first revelation we have in such moments is our lack of faith. We recognize that we have been ruled, once again, by fear. Though we walk with Jesus, we sit as His feet, we have even been witnesses to His miraculous power, we can still fall prey to fear. We can be duped by doubt.

Why are we afraid? We have Christ. Why does our faith fail? We have His Spirit. May we learn how to live in the Peace and Stillness of His Person. This is our inheritance. He is our inheritance. Let’s not allow the devil to steal one more moment of our rest. One of the greatest signs and wonders in the days ahead will be a people who know how to live in peace. Regardless of circumstances, we have communion with Jesus through the Holy Spirit. Let’s remember.
