(1 Samuel 25-26, Luke 16:19-31)
Behold, as your life was precious this day in my sight, so may my life be precious in the sight of the Lord, and may he deliver me out of all tribulation.” (1 Samuel 26:24)
Do you believe what you know? Do you believe that we live before God, and that He sees us? Do you believe that He rewards us when we earnestly seek Him? Jesus has come to set us free. He’s come to set us free from sin, sickness, death… but there is more! He’s come to set us free from living for the approval and promotion that comes from man.
God loves us so much that he has arranged for each us to come into the wilderness at different seasons. He loves us so much that He has orchestrated seasons of being misunderstood. Why? How can this be love? We all lean on many things… our reputation, or vain ambitions, our false ideas of God and self, our co-dependencies. This will not do! This is not freedom.
The wilderness season has a specific purpose in our lives. God leads us there to remove all of the false things that we lean on. We learn, because we must learn, that Jesus is enough. His love is enough. We learn how to live for Him and with Him. Don’t despair if you find yourself in the wilderness. God has led some of His favorite people there! We are led in by many different ways, but there is only one way to come out… leaning on our Beloved (Song of Solomon 8:5).
