(1 Samuel 13-14, Luke 14:1-24)

But when you give a feast, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, and you will be blessed, because they cannot repay you. For you will be repaid at the resurrection of the just.” (Luke 14:13,14)

No one but Jesus can promise us something beyond this life. Only Jesus. We have many questions, and many things do not seem fair when we look through the lens of our present reality. But I believe in the light of eternity all will make sense. All will be made right. Every tear will be wiped away, and every question will be answered.

Jesus calls us to look beyond this reality. He beckons us to look forward into our eternal destiny. I know many ministries have been built on, or around the concept of your best life now. The truth is, there is a cost for following Jesus. The scripture says plainly that “all those who desire to live a godly will be persecuted (2 Timothy 3:12).” Jesus does not mislead us. His Gospel points us to look for resolve in the age to come.

Should we then satisfy ourselves with the press of darkness, and more darkness? By no means! Work while it is day. Love God with all your heart, mind, soul and strength. And when disappointment creeps in, remember that our horizon is eternity. Surely His Kingdom will be established. Surely every knee will bow. Lift up your head! Jesus reigns now and forevermore!
