(Genesis 12-14, Matthew 5)

Now the Lord said to Abram, “Go from your country and your kindred and your father’s house to the land that I will show you. (Genesis 12:1 ESV)

The Lord seems to always be calling us out of the familiar, out of the ordinary, and into the plan and purposes of His own heart.  He called Abram away from everything that he knew, not because everything he knew was bad, or sinful. No!  He was called away from the familiar so that he could discover the Lord.

The familiar is, well, familiar.  We stop seeing.  We stop discovering because we think we already know.  We stop listening because we think we have already heard.  God calls us out of the familiar, not for the excitement of adventure only, rather, He calls us out so we can see again.  He calls us out of the familiar to heal our blindness.

God is our inheritance.  It’s not only about Him revealing a new land and a new place….it’s about Him revealing Himself.  He is the gift.  He is the treasure.  He is the journey and He is the destination.

It’s time to leave the familiar. Today when you hear Him call you out of what you know, say yes!  Leave what you know, and let Him lead you into what He has for you.  More peace.  More joy.  More love.  He’s the inheritance!
