(Numbers 28-29, Mark 9:1-29)

…And led them up a high mountain by themselves. And he was transfigured before them, and his clothes became radiant, intensely white, as no one on earth could bleach them. And there appeared to them Elijah with Moses, and they were talking with Jesus. (Mark 2:2-4)

Most of our problems and issues stem from one source… We do not have an accurate view of Jesus, and so we also retain a distorted view of God, our Father. We think too low of Him.

Peter, James and John walked with Jesus. They watched Him minister, teach and perform miracles, and yet they still did not know Him. One day Jesus led them up a high mountain. It would have been quite a climb. And there, He was transfigured before them. He revealed His glory. Elijah and Moses, dead for hundreds of years, also appeared. They spoke together with Jesus. I wonder what they spoke about?! Maybe the mystery of God, the plan of salvation, once and for all revealed in Jesus!

We need a higher view of Jesus, a more accurate view. We’ve walked with Him, and we’ve heard His words, but has He been transfigured before us? Have we seen Him in His glory? Do we really know Him?

May our eyes be opened, even now, to behold Him as He is. He is Jesus Christ, Son of God, Son of Man. He is Wonderful! He is Able! He is Faithful and True. God, open our eyes.
