(Joshua 16-18, Luke 5:1-16)

And when he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Put out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.” And Simon answered, “Master, we toiled all night and took nothing! But at your word I will let down the nets.” (Luke 5:4,5)

It’s time to let down the nets! All our human toil, all our earthly effort, leaves us weary and disappointed. Soon enough, if we aren’t careful, we are unbelieving believers. Maybe that is where you find yourself today. You have prayed. You have fasted. You have “toiled all night” with nothing to show for it.

In the name of Jesus, I speak to your ears to be opened right now to hear the word of the Lord over your life. Don’t you know, it’s not by your might! It’s not by your strength. It’s by the Spirit of the Lord. His command performs it. The flesh is good for nothing. But! But! But with God ALL things are possible.

It’s time for the church to let down the nets. It’s time for the church to recover her great expectations. If Jesus is indeed God, if the storms of life are stilled at the sound of his voice, if His word destroys leprosy and raises dead men, if His blood covers and covers completely…. Well, then praise God!! Put down the nets.

Don’t be afraid. Don’t shrink back! Today is the day of salvation. Look up! Look up! He will perform His word.
