(Genesis 9-11, Matthew 4)

And leaving Nazareth he went and lived in Capernaum by the sea, in the territory of Zebulun and Naphtali, so that what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah might be fulfilled… (Matthew 4:13-14  ESV)

To consider that Jesus moved from place to place to validate and fulfill the prophetic word is deeply humbling.  After all, Jesus is the Word.  He is the verbum, the manifestation of God in the earth.  Yet here, we see Christ’s submission to the Word.  He relocated “so that what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah might be fulfilled.”

Amazing!  Jesus was baptized by John to fulfill all righteousness and he moved to fulfill the words of the prophet.  He was utterly yielded to the prophetic weight of the scriptures.  He is more than our example, He is The Way.

How then should we live?  Like Christ.  We should live like Jesus…in submission to the Word.  May our lives be surrendered to the express will of God.  May what was recorded for our generation find it’s fulfillment in us.  We say, “Yes and amen!”
