(Joshua 11-13, Luke 4)
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.” (Luke 4:18-19)
The anointing is not about comparing the size of our flames! It’s not about comparison at all. The anointing is about service; Service to the poor, to the captive, to the blind, to the oppressed. This is why Jesus was anointed, and it is why He anoints us today.
The SEND is primary. Jesus said, concerning Himself, that He was sent. He was a sent One. The anointing was and is a force. It compels. It doesn’t wait to be honored. It goes. It goes low, but it goes. Where is that send today? Where are those who have heard from heaven and will go? Where are those who preach because there is fire shut up in their bones? Where are those who proclaim because they cannot contain the praises of God?
There is an anointing that comes from Heaven. There is a baptism that is fire. When it comes, you will go! When it comes, you will see!! Open you eyes. There are still those today so bound, so blind, so oppressed. Where is the hope in seeing this? To the One who has been sent to preach the year of the Lord’s favor… there is only hope…and more hope! Blessed is He who GOES in the name of the Lord.
